The first United Nations program on “Persecution and Resistance: LGBTIQ+ People Under Nazi Rule” highlighted the early LGBT human rights movement in the early 1900s, its destruction under National Socialism, and the many queer lives lost in prisons and camps, as well as queer resistance. We explored the lasting impact of this history on post-war queer communities and its relevance to today’s rising authoritarian ideologies.
